2010 Players' Code of Ethics

 

I herby pledge to be positive about my youth sports experience and accept responsibility for my participation by following the Players' Code of Ethics:
I will attend every practice and game that I can, and will notify my coach if I cannot.
I will do my very best to listen and learn from my coaches.
I will show good sportsmanship before, during, and after games and practices.
I will treat all coaches, players, officials, and parents with courtesy and respect.
I will treat equipment and playing fields with care and respect.
I deserve to have fun during my sports experiences and will alert parents or coaches if it stops being fun.
I will encourage my parents to be involved with my team in some capacity because it is important to me.
I will do my very best in school.
I will remember that sports are an opportunity to learn and HAVE FUN!

 

  

2010 Coaches' Code of Ethics and Conduct

Commitment to the Girls:

bullet Coaches shall put the safety and welfare of their athletes above all else.
bullet Coaches shall ensure that the activity being undertaken is suitable for the age, experience, ability, and fitness level of the athletes with whom they work.
bullet Coaches shall know and abide by the laws of the game and teach them to their athletes.
bullet All practices and games shall be conducted within the letter and intent of the rules of A.S.A. and the CGSA.
bullet Coaches shall encourage the athlete to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. 
bullet Coaches shall help maintain a climate of enjoyment among spectators by discouraging negative remarks and/or harassment of players, umpires, and other teams or spectators.
bullet Coaches shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, age, national or ethnic origin, or qualified handicapped or disabled persons. 
bullet Coaches shall follow the organization and national governing body rules and state and local laws regarding drug, alcohol and tobacco use.  
bullet Coaches shall support talented and non-talented players with equal vigor.
bullet Coaches shall direct comments or criticisms at the performance rather than the athlete.

Commitment to the Umpires:

bullet All game umpires shall be treated in a professional and respectable manner at all times.
bullet Any displeasure with an umpire's actions or conduct shall be addressed through the proper channels (CGSA Commissioner/Board) and not through public opinion or demonstration.
bullet All coaches shall strive to develop positive working relations with the umpires

Commitment to Other Coaches:

bullet A coach has an obligation to be honest and forthright with other coaches in the program.
bullet Coaches shall treat their colleagues with dignity and respect.
bullet Coaches shall not use profanity.
bullet Coaches shall refrain from making derogatory remarks about others.

Commitment to CGSA:

bullet Coaches shall behave in a way that they shall bring credit to the program and to themselves.
bullet Coaches shall exhibit professionalism in their actions, words, and attire.
bullet Coaches shall act in full accordance with the program, national governing body, and sanctioning body rules.

Coaches shall report any violations of law, any violation of program rules or the appearance of coach misconduct to the CGSA Commissioner/Board of Directors.

  

2010 Parents' Code of Ethics and Conduct

 

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my child participating in youth sports by following this Parents' Code of Ethics
I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game and practice,.
I will place the emotional and physical well being of all the children participating ahead of a personal desire to win.
I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.
I will support coaches and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
I will remember that the game is for youths - not adults.
I will do my best to make youth sports fun for my child.
I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect, regardless of race, creed, sex, or ability.
I will require that my child's coach up holds the Coaches' Code of Ethics.
I will help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching, at the fields, or providing transportation.
I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and will refrain for their use at all youth sports events.
I will make certain that my child upholds the Players' Code of Ethics

I understand that there is never a reason to approach another team’s coach, player or parent involving a disagreement about the game.  All disagreements on rules or rules interpretation shall be handled by the umpire.  I also understand that I should treat all umpires with respect.

 

I have read and understand the above statements and I agree to conduct myself in a manner that demonstrates the standards and “spirit” of the standards established in this Parental Code of Conduct.  I understand that if I fail to follow these guidelines, the disciplinary actions could include:

Written Reprimand

A required written apology to all parties involved on my behalf

One Game Suspension

Season Suspension

Permanent Suspension

I also understand that the umpire is in charge of the game and, if asked to leave the game or the park, I must follow the request of the umpire.
