Fall 2009 Letters from the President: Hello Coaches, First and foremost…thank you again for donating all of your time this season to the girls! I know that is a tremendous task but please know how much we appreciate you and your coaches for all of the effort that coaching requires. Simply put, we would not have this great of a league without you!!! We have 290 signed up and plenty of teams in each age group. We have without a doubt the best playing fields around (if you know of any better let me know and I can take the City crew to inspect them)…if there are any suggestions that you might have to make the league even better, please let me know. I also need to thank all of the Board members for their time in ensuring that we have the best run Rec league in the Metroplex. It goes without saying that this league would not run nearly as smooth without the countless hours that Gayle and Mike Marshall donate. Next time you see them, please thank them for all that they do for you as coaches and our girls. We look forward to a great fall season. Thanks again, Doug.

I know that is a tremendous task but please know how much we appreciate you and your coaches for all of the effort that coaching requires. Simply put, we would not have this great of a league without you!!! Wow…I can say that without a doubt that this has been the best season ever for the CGSA. We had 325 players and plenty of teams in each age group. We look forward to seeing everyone back this fall or next spring. Now, on to the business at hand…we are about to start our first Double Elimination tournament in some time. With the number of teams that we have, this will be a blast!!! We will have the brackets done by tomorrow morning so please check the website to get your game time. We will also be sending out a rules document that will apply for this tournament so be on the lookout for those as well. I hope that you have found the website helpful as we have done our best to keep the game results and standing updated within 24 hours of the games. Thanks again, Doug.
Good Morning Coaches and Parents What a great opening Saturday…a little windy but plenty warm! DUGOUTS: Please let your parents know that you can only have “players” and “approved coaches” in the dugout during the game. Parents and siblings are a huge distraction for you and your coaches and more importantly a safety and insurance issue. The dugout is part of the playing field and we are not insured if something happens to a parent or siblings while in the dugout. Obviously, this is a risk we simply cannot take. PRACTICE: If you are planning on using the City fields or Reagan Park during Spring Break you will have to email Brian Tarbet (for the lights) and myself (to unlock the gate @ City fields). Otherwise, the fields will be closed. We need to have this information back by Thursday if you intend on practicing. Brian Tarbet: briant@centurionmortgage.net Doug Gray: dgray@prg1.com EQUIPMENT: We are scheduling a “Charity Donation Day” for old and used softball/baseball equipment on April 18th (same day as our “picture day”). Bats, gloves and shoes will be collected at a tent next the picture tent and we will donate all of this to needy children with the help of the Salvation Army. We all have extra baseball and softball equipment just hanging around the garage or in the closet…so, here is a great opportunity to make some room and help out kids that really, really need some equipment so they can participate in baseball or softball. Please pass this information on to your parents and lets get a bunch of stuff for the kids! A very special “thank you” goes out to Rob Williams of the 10U Storm for coming up this great idea and coordinating with the Salvation Army!!! RAINOUT PHONE NUMBER/LIGHTING DETECTION SYSTEM: I will update this rainout information on both the City Fields and Reagan Park as soon as I hear from the City of Colleyville (usually around 3:00 p.m.). If you have a specific question, please do not leave a message…just give me a call. 817-595-6599 The City Fields are equipped with a “lighting detection system”. Once lightning is detected, you will hear the siren and immediately remove your players and parents from the field (even if the sun is shining) and send them to their vehicles. You will hear another siren which is the “all clear” signal and then you can return to the fields and resume the practice/game. WEBSITE: The schedules and standings are now posted on the website: www.colleyvillesoftball.com A big thanks to Scott Duda (10U Diamond Divas) for taking time out of his busy schedule to develop the new site and maintain it as well!!! Thank you for being a COACH!!! Doug Gray
